EMR Marske awards donation to East Cleveland Youth Housing Trust

Offering continued support to East Cleveland Youth Housing Trust, EMR has given a donation which will allow the trust to support 20 young people between the ages of 18 and 25. With rehomed young people often moving into accommodation with very few personal possessions, the donation will be used to offer home starter kits, which include items such as food and cleaning products, to help them find their feet.

East Cleveland Youth Housing Trust, which has operated throughout the area since 2001, aims to help young people in the rural communities of East Cleveland, who are in need, with a network of affordable, supported accommodation. In order to enable adolescents to move into adulthood with the tools they need for a successful life, the trust also offers a number of educational opportunities including apprenticeships and training in careers such as joinery, plumbing and window fitting.

Luke Ditchburn, General Manager at EMR Marske, commented:

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a reduced number of support systems for many young people in a time when they need them more than ever. The trust works hard to reach these young people and offer them the lifeline they need to be able to move on into a positive and successful adult life.

I am confident that in continuing to partner with East Cleveland Youth Housing Trust, we will be able to work together to offer young people the support they need at this difficult time.

In 2020, EMR launched its Young Futures Reimagined programme, which aims to support young people across the country who are impacted by circumstances beyond their control. East Cleveland Housing Trust becomes one of a number of charities, social enterprises and community groups which have partnered with EMR as part of this programme.

Andy Pettersen at East Cleveland Youth Housing Trust added:

The last 18 months have been a difficult and thoroughly testing time for so many people. With the looming Universal Credit cut back and record utility rises, the winter period is set to hit the poorest the hardest. The home starter kits are a lifeline for our tenants and we are so pleased that we'll be able to supply them again. Thank you for the continued support.
