EMR Salford partners with The Salford Foundation to support youth empowerment
Local business, EMR Metal Recycling, based on West Egerton Street in Salford, has donated £2,000 to The Salford Foundation’s youth support programmes.
The Salford Foundation will use the donation to provide mentoring support and interview clothing for young people who can’t afford suitable attire, as well as monthly CV training sessions to help boost their employment opportunities.
Additionally, a portion of the funding will be used to provide access to recreational activities (such as boxing and football) for young people in Salford to help them develop key skills.
As well as making a monetary donation, EMR Salford has also committed to supporting the charity by setting up a referral scheme for young people (18+) who might be potential candidates for job openings on the West Egerton Street recycling site.
The company will work with The Salford Foundation to organise group site tours and work experience opportunities.
Simon Marsden, EMR Salford Site Manager, comments:
“As a local employer, we care about supporting disadvantaged young people in the area. Having seen the impact The Salford Foundation’s work has already had in our community, we’re proud to be supporting the team this year and look forward to working in close partnership with them throughout 2020.”
As part of the partnership, The Salford Foundation has offered to educate EMR Salford’s site staff about the services and support the charity offers young people in the area to encourage them to volunteer and help mentor local young people.
Phil East, from The Salford Foundation, adds:
“We are really grateful for the generous support that EMR is providing. Some young people in Salford have a particularly tough time growing up and they need the extra help and encouragement a mentor can provide to reach their potential. Through this donation, EMR is making a real difference in helping young people in Salford to build better futures for themselves.”
