Scott Bamborough, General Manager at EMR Liverpool, meets with Bootle Action Group to discuss the support given by EMR

Bootle Action Group (BAG), which was set up in 2016, has a dedicated team of volunteers who meet up on a regular basis to clean up their local area and make it a nicer place to be. Previously EMR has supported BAG in placing bins at the Strand Shopping Centre and planting trees to improve the local environment.

With the £2,750 donation given by EMR, BAG will continue this drive to have a positive impact in their area by planting more trees and replacing dated and damaged bins. EMR was also able to secure BAG a lawn mower, thanks to a generous donation from partner Lloyd & Jones, to enable them to improve green spaces across Bootle for the local community.

Scott Bamborough, General Manager at EMR Liverpool described why it was important for his team to support BAG:

“At EMR we strive to have a positive environmental impact within the community. Since we partnered with BAG back in 2018 we witnessed first-hand their dedication and passion for their community. Michael, Barbara, Ken and their team continue to work hard, largely in their spare time to uphold Bootle’s beauty and preserve its heritage.

“I would like to thank Michael for his commitment to Bootle and look forward to working with him and the members of BAG for many years to come.”

Michael Brennan, Founder of BAG added:

“The COVID pandemic has seen many community organisations and charities suffer immense funding losses. That has particularly been the case here in Bootle. However, our great friendship and partnership with EMR has enabled our group to continue with our aim of making Bootle a cleaner, greener, brighter place to live and work.

“The donation of a top quality lawnmower and strimmer from EMR and Lloyd & Jones will help us keep our adopted green space; Oxford Gardens, looking good all year round. This is important to us as more people have utilised our greenspaces of late. In addition the funding of 4 trees will contribute to those already provided by EMR, enhancing the southern gateway into Bootle, and contributing to reducing our carbon footprint.”
